Fabricio Romano has revealed that Fiorentina are close to signing Shonatan Igone from Lille. Which should be completed in the coming days.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move late last month. After Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Viola had given up on Domenico Berardi because of the high price too.

Causing the past media reports that Ikone is the new target of Mahakan. He is about to move to play football in Serie A soon.

Most recently, Romano confirmed that talks between Fiorentina. And Lille were coming to an end with a transfer value of around €15 million, with a percentage of future player transfers included.

However, Romano added that Ikone’s arrival had nothing to do with Dujan Vlahovic’s future.

Igone has made 21 appearances for Lille this season. He scoring two goals, but the Frenchman is due to leave in January.

The 23-year-old France youth international is left footed and plays primarily on the right of a front three, which would allow González to stick to his favored side.

Ikoné’s primary attributes are searing pace and superb technique. At his best, he’s a dynamic ball carrier who can terrorize opponents on the break while offering some shooting and clever movement against a set defense. Which is pretty much exactly what the doctor ordered.

If €15 million seems like a minuscule fee for someone who’s that good and that young. Well, you’re right. His contract runs out in 2023, though, and he wants out (sound familiar?).

So les Dogues are stuck selling him for pennies. The criticism does run deeper though. And he seems to have stagnated over the past couple of years. He’s never scored more than 4 goals in a league season, and his assists tally has dropped from 9 to 6 to 5. Some of his underlying stats also show some worrying regression.
