Fiorentina striker Moise Kean has withdrawn from the Italy squad due to injury, prompting Luciano Spalletti to call up Lorenzo Lucca to replace him.

The Italian Football Federation has revealed that Keane will not play for Italy’s two UEFA Nations League games against Belgium and Israel in October because of a lower back injury, forcing him to withdraw and return to Fiorentina for treatment.
Keane has scored five goals in 10 appearances for Fiorentina in the 2024-25 season. Most recently playing the full 90 minutes of a 2-1 Serie A win over AC Milan. With the former Juventus forward missing a penalty in front of Spalletti, who was watching from the Artemio Franchi stands.
Keane’s replacement is Luca, a 24-year-old striker from Udinese who has scored five goals in nine games this season. Spalletti was called up to the squad for a friendly in the United States in March but suffered a minor injury and did not make his debut.
Kean has five goals in 10 Fiorentina appearances this term but missed a penalty kick against Milan last night, with Spalletti watching in the stands.
Italy players will train at Coverciano on Monday afternoon.
